My Commitment

I'm committed to advocating for and fostering an environment of change in our schools and in the system as a whole. Education is the foundation of any society, and we must place the appropriate value on the education that is offered to our children. We must ensure that we hire and retain high quality educators who want to teach and who are commmitted to reaching every student, regardless of background, gender, disciplinary history, or family dynamics. We must foster an environment of inclusion so that teachers who want to teach feel supported in ways that encourage and allow them to be effective at their jobs.

Finally, we need to ensure a learning environment that celebrates all nationalities, ethnicities, and backgrounds in every possible way. We must guarantee our children opportunities to learn in various ways that both encompass where they come from and where they would like to go. When it is necessary to apply consequences for less than favorable actions, we must ensure that disciplinary actions are distributed both equitably and with resources that focus on the root cause of the behavior, rather than punishment alone.
